KpH Wins Health, Safety & Wellbeing Excellence (Project) Award at Construction News Awards

KpH is celebrating success after winning the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Excellence (Project) award at the 2026 Construction News Awards.

Held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London, this year’s awards marked the event’s 30th anniversary, bringing together more than 1,200 senior leaders and decision-makers from across the construction industry to celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement.

After being shortlisted in four categories alongside many of the UK’s leading construction businesses, KpH was named winner of the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Excellence (Project) award in recognition of its commitment to delivering outstanding health, safety and wellbeing standards on a complex commercial project in the City of London.

KpH was also shortlisted for Specialist Contractor of the Year and Health, Safety & Wellbeing Excellence (Company), while Estimating Team Lead Megan McDonald was named a finalist in the Rising Star category.

Being shortlisted across four categories reflected the breadth of KpH’s achievements, recognising excellence in project delivery, health and safety, business performance and emerging talent.

The winning project involved a complex 14-week strip-out project within an occupied commercial tower in the City of London. Delivered in a live environment, the works required careful planning, close collaboration and constant coordination to minimise disruption while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety throughout.

Over the course of the project, the team completed more than 13,500 accident-free hours with zero accidents, injuries or reportable incidents. Alongside a strong focus on safety, the team also introduced enhanced welfare facilities, a dedicated wellbeing space and direct access to Mental Health First Aiders, ensuring everyone working on the project felt supported throughout.

Sustainability also played an important role, with 23.7 tonnes of glass recovered for recycling, reducing waste and helping to minimise the risks associated with uncontrolled glass breakage.

The judges praised the project, commenting:

An outstanding entry demonstrating very impressive senior leadership, resulting in good levels of staff and worker engagement. Working in an occupied and highly constrained site, the project showed impressive innovations focused on health, wellbeing, mental health, sustainability and safety.
